Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” became only the second hip-hop song to win either Record or Song of the Year at the most recent Grammy Awards. The tune ended up claimed both, joining “This Is America” by Childish Gambino in the feat. Following his moving moment accepting both of those trophies on stage, the rapper surges on the Billboard charts with both albums and smashes.
“Not Like Us” is the biggest winner from his discography in many respects. It appears on 10 Billboard rankings this frame, climbing on all of them, and even managing to return to the highest tier on one list thanks to a huge uptick in purchases.
Luminate reports that in the past tracking frame, which followed the Grammys, “Not Like Us” sold 6,100 copies. The period before it managed a little less than 1,300 sales. From one week to the next, pure purchases of Lamar’s diss track increased by a little more than 375%.
That enormous gain helps “Not Like Us” return to No. 1 on two of the three sales focused rosters that it appears on in America. Lamar’s multi-Grammy winning smash bolts back to No. 1 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales charts.
“Not Like Us” returns to just one of the many Billboard rankings that appears on this frame, and it’s a sales tally. The cut re-enters the all-style Digital Song Sales chart at No. 10. His is the loftiest comeback this frame, though not the highest-rising tune that wasn’t present on the list just days ago.
The current Digital Song Sales chart is owned by “I’m the Problem” by Morgan Wallen. That cut launches in first place with 15,000 pure purchases. Lady Gaga collects the second-most-impressive start of the frame, as “Abracadabra” kicks off its time at No. 5 with a little more than 9,700 sales.
“Not Like Us” is Lamar’s bestselling song at the moment, but it’s not his only tune to appear on, or even climb on, some of Billboard’s purchase-centric rosters. Three tracks taken from his latest album GNX gain both in terms of total units sold, as well as chart placement. “Squabble Up” grows its sales sum by 47%, “Luther” is up 27.5%, and “TV Off” with Lefty Gunplay sees its sales total grow by 28%. Each of those tunes lifts on at least one sales chart, but all of them improve on multiple Billboard tallies as consumption of everything connected to the rapper is expanding.
