FC Barcelona has told Neymar the one condition it has to re-sign him this summer according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

The Brazilian soccer superstar made the same switch from boyhood club Santos to Barca in 2013, and won the Catalans’ last treble a couple of years later as part of the fabled ‘MSN’ treble also made up of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

In 2017, however, Paris Saint-Germain changed the sport and its market forever by triggering the forward’s $231 million (€222 million) release clause as part of a mission to deliver its first ever Champions League crown and Neymar the Ballon d’Or.

As we now know, none of those milestones were achieved. Granted Neymar and PSG were showered in domestic honors, but their relationship ended sourly in 2023 when he headed to the Middle East.

At the turn of 2025, Neymar parted ways with Al-Hilal after playing only a handful of games for the Saudis, and is now back where it all began in Santos.

The 33-year-old is clearly enjoying his football again, to the extent of scoring a ‘gol olimpico’ from a corner, and continues to be linked with a summer move to Barca by outlets such as The Athletic, citing anonymous sources.

Some corners believe that Neymar is using Santos as a way of getting in shape for a second stint in Europe and getting in shape for the 2026 World Cup.

And according to SPORT, Barca has explained to the player and his camp a prerequisite for a ‘Last Dance’ at the Spotify Camp Nou.

“First score 15 goals with Santos and then we will consider signing you,” Sporting Director Deco and President Joan Laporta have said.

In seven appearances thus far, Neymar has already notched three strikes and has the same amount of assists to his name.

While there are concerns from some fans of how he would fit into Hansi Flick’s playing style which demands a lot of those in the starting line up in terms of workrate and pressing, there is no doubt that Laporta could do with a name of such weight to attract punters to the Camp Nou once it has been renovated and reopened.
