AEW Grand Slam Australia Results, Winners And Grades On February 15, 2025

AEW Grand Slam Australia advertised a television special amid grand ambitions of a stadium show. As ticket sales struggled, Grand Slam Australia moved from the 52,000-seat Suncorp Stadium to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Fans in Australia did not hold back in their disdain after paying stadium prices prior to the event being moved to a smaller building.

AEW Grand Slam Australia was essentially a glorified episode of Collision, however it had its best lead-in of 2025 coming after NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

Grand Slam advertised two title matches, including Mercedes Mone against the piping-hot Harley Cameron and Toni Storm challenging for the AEW Women’s World Championship. All told, four Australians wrestled on the TV special before a heated crowd of around 11,000.

Omega And Ospreay Def. Takeshita And Fletcher

Kenny Omega’s new theme music is awful.

Fans were into the nonstop offense from all four “superworkers” from the moment the bell rang. The action was perfect for a casual fan sampling AEW, but hardly had the level of emotional storytelling to keep them around.

Fans chanted “fight forever” coming out of commercial break as the pace quickened.

Don Callis was great on commentary as usual. Nigel McGuinness made a quip about Omega needing a Colostomy bag, and Callis said he should borrow one from Tony Schiavone.

Ospreay and Omega won with an impressive One-Winged Angel and Top-Rope Hidden Blade combination.

Omega and Ospreay vs. Takeshita and Fletcher Grade: B+

Mercedes Mone Def. Harley Cameron

Momo Watanabe was watching from the front row as she will challenge an AEW women’s world champion of her choosing.

Fans chanted “Harley” and “feel the wrath” before the bell even rang. They booed Mercedes heavily.

Harley pulled out Mini Mone from under the ring, and the puppet got a bigger pop in Australia than Mercedes did. Mercedes got a ton of heat for stomping on the doll.

Fans chanted “C-E-NO!” as they rallied behind Harley. At one point, Harley did the famous Vince McMahon spot from WrestleMania 19 where Vince rose from under the ring. Except this time, Harley rose with puppet in hand.

There were several rollups from Cameron, but there never seemed to be a moment where it seemed like she was going to actually pull off the upset. Mercedes ultimately won with the Monemaker.

The Death Riders Def. Cope And Jay White

The best moment of the show to this point came when the Brisbane crowd sang the words to Cope’s theme music long after it shut off.

Fans chanted “Moxley’s a Wanker,” prompting heel commentator Nigel McGuinness to defend Mox by asking “what has Australia ever done?” Nigel brought up Bluey and “koalas with chlamydia” as examples of Australia’s shortcomings.

Cope wrapped a steel chair in barbed wire and almost struck Mox with it, but Marina Shafir put a stop to it.

Mox trapped Cope in a Bulldog Choke while Wheeler Yuta did the same to Jay White. Despite both fighting, the babyfaces passed out to the duel chokes as the Death Riders won.

Death Riders vs. Cope and Jay White Grade: B-

Kazuchika Okada Def. Buddy Matthews

Rhea Ripley was reportedly in attendance for Buddy Matthews’ moment in his home country, but for obvious reasons, there was no trace of her on television.

This match did a much better job making it seem like the underdog could win, including Matthews kicking out of the Rainmaker. McGuinness noted Buddy was the first AEW star to kick out of the Rainmaker.

There was a very controversial nearfall where Okada didn’t kick out, but Okada rolled to his left an his foot touched the middle rope to break the fall. Fans chanted “B.S.”

Okada vs. Matthews Grade: B+

Toni Storm Def. Mariah May

To this point, this poor Aussie crowd had seen hometown heroes Harley Cameron, Buddy Matthews and even legend Cope lose consecutive matches. If Toni lost, they were likely going to riot.

Luther, Toni Storm’s butler made his return dressed as an usher to welcome Toni Storm. Storm’s old rock music played, but then it quickly petered out to give way to Timeless Toni Storm’s theme. Huge pop.

Toni Storm dominated the early goings of the match, but Mariah took control after hitting a Mayday on the outside. Luther tried to revive the challenger by waving her off with a playbill.

Storm, continuing to do her impression of Mariah May, hit a Mayday of her own for a nearfall.

Storm hit three hip attacks in a row and a Storm Zero, but Mariah still kicked out. Toni Storm kicked out of multiple finishers of her own after two Maydays inside the ring.

Despite all the finishers, the finish of this match was Toni Storm winning with a rollup of all things. Toni Storm is now the first four-time AEW Women’s World champion.
